C-141 Bench Dedication
Mission Complete!
The 57th Alumni Association dedicated the bench at Edwards AFB Flight Test Museum on April 29, 2026. This was the final bench project and the 14th bench. President Woodie Hall dedicated the bench with Don Jenkins, Lew Shedd, and Claude Irelan in attendance.
Claude and the Edwards AFB C-141, named "Against the Wind." NC-141A Starlifter (S/N 61-2779) was permanently modified for special test programs. While it logged only 5,500 flight hours, it served extensive duty as a ground-test bed for various radar systems.
These benches were made possible by the generosity of the membership of the 57th Alumni Association. Your desire and dedication to "Keeping it Alive" is on display for current and future generations. Although the 57th Alumni Association will pass, the history of the accomplishments and sacrifices made by the members will last for generations. Thank you for the years of service and the inumerable sacrifices made by you and your families. The future is today! "Keeping it Alive"
